Cascades Humane Society's Spay & Neuter Assistance Program — SNAP — provides affordable spay and neuter surgeries performed in-house by our own veterinarian, Dr. Sarah Patrias. Procedures are minimally invasive and same-day, so your pet goes home with you when it's done.
What SNAP Covers — and What It Costs
SNAP offers low-cost spay and neuter services for both dogs and cats, with pricing based on species, gender, and size. We've recently expanded our services to include vaccines, diagnostic tests, and dental cleanings — all available at the time of a scheduled surgery. Dental services can also be scheduled independently without a spay or neuter procedure. All prices listed below are subject to change; current pricing is confirmed at the time of scheduling.

Animals We Are Unable to Schedule for Surgery
CHS is committed to providing the highest quality low-cost sterilization possible. Part of that commitment means deferring to full-service veterinary hospitals when our medical staff determine it's necessary for the animal's safety. The following breeds and conditions are not eligible for surgery at CHS.
- Breeds at highest risk of GDV (stomach twist): Great Dane
- Breeds with extreme brachycephaly (flattened face and short muzzle), including but not limited to: English Bulldog, French Bulldog, Boxer, Pug, Pekingese, Shih Tzu, Persian Cat, and Himalayan Cat
- Animals with significant health conditions: severely obese animals, animals with respiratory infections, animals with liver or kidney disease, and animals with heart conditions
How to Schedule Your SNAP Appointment
Payment is required before an appointment can be scheduled, and all pets must be at least 2 months old at the time of surgery. If your pet has a current rabies vaccine, include a copy with your application. If not, CHS can administer the rabies vaccine during the procedure for $25. Once your application is received, our scheduler will call you to confirm your appointment date, time, and payment.

What does it cost to spay or neuter a pet through SNAP?
Cat spays are $95 and cat neuters are $75. Dog spays and neuters are priced by weight, ranging from $120–$150 for dogs under 100 pounds, with pricing for larger dogs determined by the vet. Additional services — vaccines, tests, microchipping, and dental — are available at the time of surgery for an added cost. All prices are subject to change and confirmed at the time of scheduling.
Can I add vaccines or a dental cleaning to my pet's SNAP appointment?
Yes. Vaccines, diagnostic tests, microchipping, and dental cleanings can all be added at the time of a scheduled surgery. Dental services can also be booked independently without a spay or neuter procedure — cat dentals without surgery are $150 and dog dentals without surgery are $200. Simple extractions are $15 per tooth; surgical extractions are variable.
Are there breeds or health conditions that disqualify a pet from SNAP surgery?
Yes. For safety reasons, CHS does not perform surgery on certain high-risk breeds, including Great Danes and brachycephalic breeds such as English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Boxers, Pugs, and Persians, among others. Animals with significant health conditions — including severe obesity, respiratory infections, and heart, liver, or kidney disease — are also deferred to full-service veterinary hospitals. What do I need to bring on the day of my SNAP appointment?
Bring your appointment card and a valid driver's license or state ID. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please return the appointment card to CHS. Cancellations or reschedules within 24 hours of the appointment carry a $10 rescheduling fee, and no refunds are issued 30 days after the appointment date. If you are rescheduling, do not bring your pets to CHS on the original appointment date.
